Stop Calling Me ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ – Davido Warns

When he stormed the music scene few years ago, David Adeleke, better known as Davido prided himself as ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ which literally means ‘son of a rich man’ in Yoruba language. This appellation became what the son of a Nigerian billionaire businessman was known with and the talented young singer even went further to release an album with the name as the titled.

About three years after his grand entry into the scene, Davido can confidently rely on his music to live large without any support from his rich dad. Apart from being a brand ambassador of a telecoms giant, MTN, which we learnt was worth millions of Naira, Davido is one of the hottest artistes in Africa, who is believed to earn several millions from shows.

However, the artiste might now be tired of people still linking his wealth to his father’s riches as he expressed his frustration over the issue.

Speaking recently on a show, Davido said, ‘I find it annoying when people relate me with my father’s money. I can rely on my money and spend my money on anything I feel like acquiring. I have worked hard for myself and I am working for my kids to also be ‘Omo Baba Olowo’.

What Do We Believe? “Nadia Buari Is A Bloody Liar And Greedy” – Cosmetic Company Reveals

Ghanaian Nollywood actress, Nadia Buari has been branded a big liar by the cosmetic company she reportedly refused to sign an endorsement deal for because, according to her, she found out that the cream she was meant to endorse, Avant Claire Grande, contained dangerous chemical used in bleaching.

According to authoritative Ghanaian entertainment site, Ghanacelebrities.com, the General Manager of Avant Claire Grande Afrique, Christopher Owen, has come out debunk Nadia’s claims of rejecting the $75,000 deal due to chemical as lies.

Instead, Owen said they company actually decided not to go ahead with the sexy actress since what they wanted to offer her was $60,000 but she insisted on $75,000.

Christopher is reported to have told a Ghanaian radio station in an interview:

My company offered the actress they chose out of many, a total sum of $60,000 which she turned down after Avant declined a $15,000 raise she and her management requested for during negotiations.

So saying she turned down the deal due to a chemical is false. She was only being greedy and wanted more money, so we had to pull out of the deal.

Does this mean that if Nadia had been given the $75,000, she would have signed the deal despite knowing the cream contained bleaching chemicals?

Nicki Minaj Says “There Has Never Been A Male/Female Duo Like Me & Lil Wayne”

Nicki Minaj speaks on “The Pink Print”, being motivated by Lil Wayne, and the abundance of “Chi-Raq” freestyles.

Both Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are readying new albums for a 2014 release, and whether or not they’ll make appearances on one another’s projects, their presence will be felt on both. In a new interview with DJ Semtex, Nicki Minaj spoke of her relationship with Lil Wayne, detailing how the rapper has motivated her, his influence on her music, and their chemistry on record.

She also talked about the abundance of remixes for her “Chi-Raq” single with Lil Herb, and the blueprint she intends to lay with her new album.

Read some excerpts from the interview below.

On The Pink Print:
I feel like this album will be a blueprint for female rappers to come. That alone should tell you how confident I am about the music. Eventually, I’ll just be called a rapper, I guess.

On “Chi-Raq”:
I contacted Lil Herb from Chicago. He had a record out that was doing that flow that he’s doing on the hook. I was feeling the flow that he did on that song. I knew the shit was hot. I didn’t really expect that many… A lot of people remade that song. Like people did videos to that song. We don’t even have a video to that, and I had the original version.

On Wayne’s contributions to the album:
I sent him something that he liked. I didn’t hear his verse yet. My connection with Wayne is so deep that I don’t have to be on his album, and he doesn’t have to be on my album for him to always play a role as a mentor in my life.

On Wayne’s motivation:
One of the biggest motivators in my career was just watching Wayne’s work ethic when I first came in the game. I would see him go so hard, and do so many features, and so many mixtapes, and do so many albums. Whether he and I are on a song or not, we always have this insane connection that I can’t explain.

On her chemistry with Wayne:
You gotta play that “Sweet Dreams” Beyonce freestyle, you gotta play when me and Wayne did “Go Hard”. People need to be reminded that that has not been done since. There has never been a male-female duo like… we were like animated superheroes. When we were doing that, it was not being done, and it has not been done since.
